About MLA Á'a:líya Warbus
With a background in film, storytelling, the arts and communications, Á’a:líya has dedicated her career to uplifting Indigenous and youth voices. She previously served as Director of Cultural Communications for the Stó:lō Xwexwilmexw Government and as a professor in the Indigenous Digital Film Department at Capilano University. Earlier in her career, she worked on the front lines with youth at risk, youth in care, and in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
A proud member of the Stó:lō Nation, Á’a:líya is a devoted mother of three school-aged children and is supported by her loving husband and community.
Inspired by the lifelong work of her parents – Steven Lewis Point, OC, OBC (Xwĕ lī qwĕl tĕl), former Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia and Stó:lō leader, and Dr. Gwendolyn Point (Shoyshqwelwhet), respected Stó:lō educator and former Chancellor of the University of the Fraser Valley – she carries forward a legacy of service in her role as MLA for Chilliwack–Cultus Lake and Official Opposition House Leader.
She brings a strong commitment to communication, culture, and advocacy for safety and access to care and services for everyone.

The district includes portions of the Fraser Valley Regional District south of the Trans-Canada Highway, encompassing the communities of Yarrow, Vedder Crossing and other rural areas of Chilliwack, as well as unincorporated areas to the south including Cultus Lake.
